West Tisbury

Chicama Vineyards in West Tisbury closed in 2008 but when we visited there it was a great experience for many of us who had not been to a vineyard before.  We were able to see the wine-making process and have quite a few samples.

Vineyard Haven

Vineyard Haven is actually not a town on Martha's Vineyard.  Everybody knows it as that name, but it is really Tisbury.  The name was given to the post office in the late 1800s to replace Holmes Hole which was not such a hit with the Victorian ladies at the time.

Menemsha

Menemsha is well-known for its amazing sunsets on the ocean.  We always try to make the journey there to get some delicious seafood from Larsen's and get a good seat for the "show".

Oak Bluffs

We usually rent a house in Oak Bluffs because we enjoy the shops and restaurants here and we have become friends with some of the local residents.

I always need to see the Corbin-Norton house which sits on Ocean Park across from the Oaks Bluffs Town Beach (also known as the Inkwell). The Victorian mansion was purchased by Peter Norton of Norton Utilities.  He and his wife were in the process of renovating it and an electrical fire destroyed the house.  He rebuilt the house to its original splendor.  It is a magnificent home with many great architectural details.

We recently rented a home in East Chop that was built in the late 1800s.  East Chop is where many sea captains built their homes that overlooked the harbor.
